I’ve been doing much thinking, and I’m abandoning this idea. It’s not so much the trip there, although that would have been crazy enough, even though I managed to cut the distance down to a mere 160 km. It’s really the trip back that was scaring the cycling shorts off me. Plus, I not only want to enjoy my weekend, but the following week. So I finally faced up to reality and rented a car.
I think it would have been much more doable if I had planned to do this trip in 50-60 or even 100 km bouts, but that wasn’t really practical. The good news is that my cycling trip in Provence will be a snap. For one thing, I won’t have to contend with a tank of a bike that might shiver to pieces at any minute. For another, the longest trek is 63 km, which I did the other day. I hope the wind won’t be as fierce!
