About this time next week, I'll be stepping off a plane to the cheerful sounds of someone saying "Goedenmorgen" and "Let op de afstap!" (or whatever the Dutch is for "Watch your step!") I'd like to say I'm practically ready to go, but the truth is there is still rather a lot that needs to be done.
Many things have been taken care of: Aged P and I had a successful Skype trial. I have almost everything I need for the trip, including tickets. I have been practising tying scarfs à la française. I've fixed the major issues with The Dress... but...
The Dress needs to be hemmed -- twice! I think I've been avoiding it because there's no way to fix the fact that I chopped off too much of the bottom last December -- at least if I want to wear heels. I still need to exchange my cell phone. I only vaguely know which clothes I'm taking, and I know some of those clothes need mending. I have to make sure the cats have enough food and litter and that I eat whatever is perishable in my fridge. There are a few more things I need to make before I leave. I have to print out copies of my documents, etc. etc. etc.
However. I refuse to stress. It will all get done somehow, and as a dear friend said, it will be all kinds of awesome. It's kind of like a wedding. In that spirit, I give you the following photoessay summary hastily scribbled note...
