Cupcakes and Easter bonnets

Last Saturday I went on the season opener Cupcake Ride. There was a huge turnout, the cupcakes were delicious, and the day was gorgeous. You can click on the link to see Hyedie's recap.

We started at Prairie Girl Bakery, tucked away off King St. E. on Victoria. They provide mini-cupcakes, which as you know I love because it lets me try several flavours and not feel like a pig. So very tasty.

We then biked along the Lower Don and Martin Goodman trails, through the Beaches (favourite overheard comment: "Look at the bike gang!") to get to Life is Sweet. They also had mini-cupcakes, and the most adorable decorations on top of the regular-sized cupcakes.

A great start to the season!

Sunday, I attended what we hope is the first annual Vintage Easter Parade. Unlike the day before, which was warm and sunny, the day turned grey and cold. And I completely neglected to take any photos, but you can see some at the link, including these ones:

We walked from Bloor and Yonge to Christie Pits Park, stopping at Crêpes à GoGo for some complimentary Limonada and crêpes and dancing. And hot chocolate. I should have planned better for the cold. Thank heavens for the gloves!

Other than the hat, I had no idea what to wear for the parade, so at the last minute I decided to make up the slim skirt version of a 60s dress pattern using some green linen-esq fabric I've been hanging on to. I managed to put it together overnight, but I think it needs to be lined. I also left it at a really long length (mid-calf) to give it a more 30s feel. When it is properly finished, I'll write it up.
