Love's Labour... found

Another timey-wimey post

-- Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost
Last year, one of the Fringe shows I kept not getting to see was Much Ado About Nothing. I was disappointed, so when the same group put on Love's Labour's Lost at the Victory Cafe, I made sure to get tickets in advance. Good thing, too, since every show sold out.

An aside: I'm really glad I didn't buy a pack of tickets like last year, but made sure to get tickets to specific shows ahead of time, because the new ticketing system meant that most shows were sold out ahead of time and too bad, so sad to people with at the door tickets. I'm not sure this is such a great system.

Anyway, back to the play itself. We had been disappointed by Chasing Margaret Flatwood, but I was thrilled with Slut, so we were 50/50 for Fringe shows so far. This one did not disappoint. We got there a bit late to find good seats and were stuck at the back, but it didn't matter. The cast was terrific, especially Costard, and made good use of the bar space. Great fun, even if the ending makes this Shakespeare's Before Sunrise.

To be suitably clad for the evening, I mostly finished my grey linen Thurlow shorts. I say mostly because I left off deciding whether to put the belt loops on this pair. I think I will. Eventually.

Construction notes: I'm still having issues with the rear, and I've come to the conclusion that it will be easier to get my butt toned than to try to fix the pattern. I jest. Sort of. Also, I had the same problem I had with my other Thurlow shorts with the fly being too long for the waistband, even though I lengthened the waistband and didn't have this problem with the trousers. I'm certain I didn't do anything wrong putting it in, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I hemmed them a little longer than the other pair. It means I can't roll them up, but that's not something I'm likely to do with these shorts anyway, so no loss. The corners of my welt pockets need some stabilizing to keep them from gaping, but other than that I'm fairly pleased with how these turned out.

I'll just start doing squats now.
