When I bought the fabric for the lacy blue Swoon cardi, I was going to be good and only get the yard and a half needed for the short version. Alas for me, there were just over 2 and a half yards left on the bolt, so I had to take it all. Which meant that I had to make a top out of what was left, right? Can't waste fabric!

Another Bronte. I thought it fit the criteria for the Sewing Indie contest, but since I've been on leave all months flow into each other; it turns out I started it in the last weeks of August and let it sit for a bit before finishing it last week. So no contest for me.
That's okay. I have a top. A lovely slate blue totally see-through top.

I apologize for the not-so-fabulous pictures; we went to dinner at Bannock and left it too late to take pictures in natural light. Let's just say the flash pictures combined with the lace made those pix very NSFW. Or anywhere. Nudge nudge, wink wink. Say. No. More. It's, er, enhanced by the rather close fit; this sweater knit isn't as stretchy as the other knits I've worked with.
Anyway, I managed the shoulders better this time around. (Va va voom on the judy going all Madonna with the dial, there.)

I didn't manage the binding quite as well as the breton version. I started to unpick it but OMFSM, unpicking stretch stitch on this fabric? Not happening. On the whole, things went fairly smoothly until I discovered I had cut two left sleeves. Whoops. Fortunately I had enough material to cut a right sleeve. I waited a week or two to do it, because lazy, but it did save me from making a similar, much more dire mistake with my wedding dress. So yay for learning from one's errors.

Trying to point out my mad "stripe" matching skilz, except I did not so great a job on this side. You can see how the front is longer than the back because I ran out of fabric. Oh, and Bronte, is that a WEDDING DRESS on the shelf behind you? Why, I do believe it is!

Inside. Not nearly as pretty as the French seaming on the cardigan, but I really didn't think it would be possible here. It's overcast and incredibly scruffy because loops kept getting caught on the overcast foot.

So now I have a twin set.

(I took this picture to prove that, despite all photographic evidence to the contrary, the Swoon cardigan is actually even. You just have to make sure the back seam is perfectly centered and the front folds fall identically.)

This is the beginning of a very productive month -- I've already finished my first two Fall Essentials items. I just have to take pictures of them. Stay tuned!
