I've always considered Dufferin station to be the armpit of the TTC subway system*. It is a necessary evil because it's the station closest to me. It's got a depressing hospital green tile and seems generally dingy and ill-lit. It's not just how it looks, either; it's beyond ridiculous that there is no shelter for masses of people who often have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for a bus. And don't get me started on the dirty pools of water that gather in the stairwells when it rains or snows or the safety hazards therein.
So I was very happy to learn that it is undergoing a much-needed update, and today I got to see what the new tile will look like, and let me tell you... I think Dufferin may turn into my favourite station if the practicality upstairs matches the looks downstairs.

Scattered among the regular bathroom tiles are many copper tiles: some with writing, some with pictures.

Below you can see the Before (on the right) and After (on the left). Much better.

I can't wait to see the whole station when it's finished!

*Well, one of the armpits, anyway. Lansdowne is also not my favourite. And something about the yellow tile at Jane... can a system have more than two armpits?
