Posted timey-wimey fashion for no good reason except I got busy, then sick, and pretty much stayed that way until winter break.

After last year's unsuccessful attempt to win free tickets to the (sold-out) Book of Mormon, I was really happy when they announced it would be returning this fall. I stalked the website until they let me buy tickets the months ago. Then it was hurry up and wait until we finally got to see it on Wednesday. We were up in the gods, but the Princess of Wales has pretty good seats no matter where you are. The show is amazing and hilarious and crude and sweet. I can't stop singing the opening number.
To be suitably clad for the evening, I finally got around to sewing up the cropped bronze knit Swoon Patterns scarf-neck cardigan. The DC was concerned, because I only started sewing it the night before. Oh he of little faith. Seeing that this was the second time I've made this pattern and sewn with this fabric, I did not anticipate any problems and plowed on with hours to spare.
This is usually the part of the narrative where hubris slaps me in the face... but not today. The cardi went together quickly and nicely. I made sure this time to line up the sleeve seam correctly. I decided to go with the shinier side for extra oompf. Take that, hubris!

I even match the lobby decor. I've been calling this my bronze cardi, even though it's more of a gold weave. The black tones it down a lot. But it's still pretty glitzy.

From the back. Behold what lining up the correct seams will do!
I haven't hemmed it yet; it's best to wear knits unhemmed a few times to a) let them stretch out a bit and 2) see if they need hemming. Right? Please say yes. My lazy soul will thank you.
I really like this pattern, and I've bought some slate-blue lace knit to make a spring version. That will have to wait until, well, spring. In the meantime, I'd love a long version in teal merino wool (like the Somnulent Daschund's version), if somebody wants to tell me where I can get merino in Toronto...
I'll leave you with the opening number from BoM, which makes brilliant use of the doorbell and is pretty much what pops into my head whenever someone says "Hello!" Which happens a lot. (This version is from the Tony's, so it's a leetle bit different from the stage version... oh, and if the "crude" comment above puts you off, never fear. Not in this number.)
