A wet beginning: MMM17 week 1

week 1 composite

me-made-may'17The first week of MMM was really rainy. As in, maybe we should be building an ark.

May 1

JCI/
JCI. Window.

Here I am about to leave to sign our new lease. In the rain. That seems to be the theme of this new apartment as well -- every time we've gone there it's been raining. What you don't see in this photo is the emergency rain poncho and boot covers because I didn't think to bring my rain gear from home.

For the first day of Me-Made May, I try to wear something sewn, something crocheted, and jewellery I've made: I wore my Bonny tee, burgundy Jenna sweater, a pair of Mary knickers, burgundy hoops, and Magic Bean-stalking socks (inside my Fluevogs -- sadly, those socks are a little too big and are relegated to being bed socks or inside boots.

May 2

wavy Tiramisu
Strictly Ballroom. "No filter."

I'm really lucky my MIL is just as into silly musicals as I am; this was a hoot. I wish the sound was better at the Princess of Wales theatre, because I had a hard time understanding the lyrics for some of the ensemble numbers, but it was a great deal of fun. I wore my wavy Tiramisu and the ubiquitous Swoon cardi in black mohair.

May 3

wednesday outfit
View from my bedroom window. "Skyline."

The irony is that the one sunny and moderately warm day during the week was a day where I didn't have time to go down to the water to get a shot of the skyline (because I had to take Lucy to the vet in more of her ongoing saga. I'm going to miss this view when I move -- the new apartment faces north and west. I wore my now somewhat sad but still comfy blue Swoon cardi, my breton Renfrew, and the finally-fitting tan Lekala spiral gore skirt.

May 4

Obvious. "Inside my home."

Giving tests today and the rains and cold came back, so I dressed down a bit, wearing my red secret-pyjamas Bronte and Jalie jeans. I had to go to Aged P's after school, so I threw on my Saturn sweater as an additional layer -- biking keeps me warmer than the bus.

May 5

Kitchen table, aka my marking station. "On my plate."

We went to Little Shop of Horrors at LOT, and the plan was to get my invariable eating photo out of the way at what I thought would be our usual post-theatre nosh, but the DC wanted to go straight home. Foiled. So I went a bit more metaphorical with the prompt. All the tests.

I wore my blue Mathilde and the un-blogged crocheted wire daisy earrings I made last August. Sadly, I seem to have lost one. Boo.

May 6

Church and Wellington. "Nature"

What could be more Toronto nature than a trash panda? The rain paused just long enough for us to bike down to C'est What? for the DC's brother's b-day lunch. I was sort of pleased that it was chilly enough to justify wearing my cuddly Dana sweater, my denim tulip Simplicity, and aquamarine Eva earrings.

May 7

My bedroom, surrounded by books, tea, and cat. "Wish"

I'm wearing my magic bean-stalking socks and black Swoon, wishing I could spend the day reading instead of dealing with that stuff in Friday's picture.

I had planned to work on my glen plaid Thurlows this week, but I've been very slowly sewing my grey Swoon cardigan (I need to bind all the seams and hems, which is taking forever because I don't really want to do it), so no real UFOs were done. However, I mended a bunch of knickers and socks and published two timey-wimey posts, so I feel good about that.

Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 7/7; Refashioned: 0/7; Sewing: 12; Crochet: 5; Jewellery/Other: 3; UFOs f'd: 0
Monthly total: Me-mades: 7/7; Refashioned: 0/7; Sewing: 12; Crochet: 5; Jewellery/Other: 3; UFOs f'd: 0
