I didn't get around to posting my week 2 wrap-up because Lucy the Defiler sent me to a walk-in clinic for a massive two-week antibiotic prescription because apparently she's not keen on my trying to brush out her matted fur. Then I had exams due, including lab exams. Blogging fell by the way-side. But the wearing of clothes went on. So this is a super-long post because I'm doing two weeks in one.

Mural in an alley off Harbord St. "Paint"
Despite the fact that I pass it every day, I never really noticed this mural before this day. I was looking for an excellent mural to go with the prompt; can't think why I was drawn to it. I'm wearing my breton Bronte, my tangerine Sunny scarf (I finally redid the fringe last summer during the Ravellenics), and bruised candy apple earrings.

Baldwin Steps at Casa Loma. "Stairs"
I'm trying to think how I managed to leave school early enough to take this shot in the light. Huh. Anyway, I'm wearing my Jalie jeans, a top refashioned from a dress, and my purple Eva earrings. Remarkably, that is not a Swoon cardi, although I've worn it so often parts of it are getting a little worn and I've noticed a hole, so I might need to make a replacement in a few years.

Separated bike lane on Wellesley at Queen's Park. "I love..."
I love separated bike lanes -- and separated by a barrier only when they are two-way. You need enough space to pass someone safely. Getting this shot was interesting because I was using my point-and-shoot on burst mode with a timer. So much for the "sports" mode giving clear shots of action!
I'm wearing my yet-to-be-fixed glen plaid Thurlows, Rosemary and wine sweater, and bronze hematite chandeliers.

Student mural at school. "Eyes"
Making up for leaving while it was still light out the previous two days meant I was stuck finding a spot at school to go with the prompt. I watched the students stick all those dots on a few years ago -- it took them a couple of weeks, and I'm wondering my they didn't use paint and a stencil. Especially since some of the dots are coming off. Looks amazing, though.
I'm wearing Sewaholic today: linen Thurlows and a Belcarra top. Also chunky fluorite chandeliers, which match my green Fluevogs but not the Swoon cardi.
May 12

Post-Coffee House. "Wire"
I dressed down today because it was SpringFest and I was scheduled to supervise the water balloon fight. Fortunately it was too cold and that activity got cancelled. Not that it stopped some students from flinging the water from water bottles at each other. I had also scheduled a parent-conference that day. Looking nice and professional; go me. The outfit prompted one of my students to exclaim that she'd never seen me in pants before. Clearly, I have not taught her to be observant.
After school was the second Coffee House of the year. I had hoped that the popularity of Guardians of the Galaxy would mean that the audience could back me up on Hooked on a Feeling, but they need to work on their Ooga Chakas. Anyway, I'm wearing my I-swear-I-will-get-around-to-blogging-these Jalie jeans and Spring Steppes crocheted cardigan. Shortly after I took this photo, my darling, nearly-18-and-occasionally-incontinent kitty peed on the jeans. Ugh.

"Free choice"
On my way to a friend's house for dinner, bearing salted caramel brownies. Notice the raincoat; I didn't think to bring a plastic bag to protect the brownies, so when the heavens opened when we were a mere 7 minutes away, I chose freely to use the coat to protect the brownies. And got drenched. Fortunately it's been getting warmer, so I didn't freeze. Also, that dish towel came in handy as a barrier between my soaked skirt front and my thighs.
I also chose freely to wear this sweater with this skirt. I chose wrongly. I believe the word "frumpy" was uttered at some point. I'm wearing my Lekala blue denim spiral gore skirt and my Spring Steppes sweater again. All that heavy cotton crochet is stretching out a bit; I wonder if a trip to the dryer would help.

Outside the walk-in clinic/No Frills/pharmacy at "Quirky"
This is not the picture I had planned to take. Saturday morning, Lucy bit me hard on my right hand and scratched m badly on my left (and to answer the TeleHealth nurse and in-person doctor's question, I guess you could say she was provoked -- she had had enough of me attacking her mats, thank you very much -- she's quirky that way) and Sunday morning I woke to find that they had swollen enough for me to be worried about it. The pen on my hand is the doctor tracing the swelling on that side. Anyway, my day was basically shot. The last time I took myself to the emergency room to get stitches, I got an email from my doctor saying I should have gone through the whole "hey, my doctor's clinic isn't open, so I need to spend several hours calling TeleHealth to find out if I can take myself to the emergency room to get stitches while I quietly bleed out" process. This was a less serious issue, so I went through the process and didn't get my horse pills and the kefir to counteract their nastiness until around 3 pm.
Don't get me wrong: I think our system is great (not perfect, but really really good). It's the whole "you need to stay with your family of doctors" business that is verging on the ridiculous. Let's coordinate all our digital records, already.
I wanted to be in secret pjs all day, so I wore my red fleece Bronte and the matching Mary knickers. Then I spent the rest of the day planning lab exams.
Lucy totally forgave me.
Week 3: May 15

Amperes and aem2. "Begins with A"
I meant to take this with my science-fair style demo series and parallel circuits boards made with tinsel-filled ex-Xmas LEDs (they students think they are so cool, which is what I love about doing the electricity unit), but when I finally had time to take a picture, the hall doors to my upstairs classroom were locked. So you're stuck with the mini version. Check out my still-swollen index finger -- it looks like a thumb, it's so big.
Today was not a day for futzing, what with injury plus rain. I'm wearing a RTW knit dress and my cream Swoon cardigan, along with my refashioned tea earrings.
May 16

Dufferin station. "Street art" Below-street art, anyway.
I took the TTC out to my dentist instead of biking so I could mark tests. I'm still trying to catch up from a month ago when Aged P and Lucy got sick and my landlord intimated he was selling the house and we had to find a new place (a surprisingly easy process, thank the gods) and I just let things go. I'm wearing my pink paisley Belcarra, the cream Swoon cardi, and my not-quite-cherry blossom earrings.
May 17

Totally prompt cheating at the Distillery. "Clouds"
This was the first truly warm -- nay, hot -- day, so I felt I could bust out a cotton dress. We went to see SoulPepper's (re)Birth: E. E. Cummings in Song. Sounds pretentious, but it was amazing (as usual for SoulPepper). I'm wearing That Million Dolly Look MacarAnna. It always gets tonnes of compliments whenever I wear it (including one shouted from a women waiting in a car as I crossed the street to get a burger). Standard response applies. I'm also wearing my lacy blue Swoon cardi because I thought I would get cold from the air conditioning in the theatre. I didn't because they're smart enough not to put it on yet.
May 18

Not all pastels are pale. "Pastel"
Not fun story today, other than my 3 written exams + 2 lab exams are approved and submitted to the appropriate people. Now I can just concentrate on marked all the things. I'm wearing a Belcarra and bronze hematite chandeliers.
May 19

Drying on the shower rod. "Learn"
What not as hot as Wednesday, it was still warm enough to wear my RTW (but I rejigged the waist, so I'm counting them as refashioned) capris with my breton Renfrew and burgundy hoops. I was planning on staying in this outfit to go to a friend's birthday party... until Lucy had an accident. You'd think I would learn. So I wore my sheer green Mathilde, which has become my go-to ooh-I'm-going-out-fancy-but-not-too-fancy top. Which I wore to the same party last year. Le sigh.
May 20

I have n-1 ukes. "Music"
Start of the long weekend. Went to Aged P's today to move things off top shelves onto shelves she can reach. I wore my refashioned burgundy tee and blue Swoon cardigan.
May 21

Totally cheating here. "Memories"
The antibiotics have several charming side effects. and one of them caught up with me on Sunday. I had plans to take pictures in my two major formal dresses today, but I wasn't going anywhere or changing into anything other than a tee and yoga pants, so, no, I didn't get all glammed up. I hauled out these dresses. The one on the left is The Dress, and the other is my literally hand-sewn math grad ball dress from *cough*a long time ago*cough*. I'm never planning on wearing these again, (not even to prom) but I'd like to rescue the fabric because that rust silk is delicious, and I really like that blue stuff.
Week 3 ended on a bit of a low note, and we're expecting more rain and somewhat below seasonal temperatures for next week. I did replace the FOE on a pair of Mary's with wide red elastic lace to make them wearable again, so yay for that.
