I had plans to take pictures at several specific locations, but the weather and altered plans kept getting in the way. I am also starting to get tired of taking pictures of me me me every day. Which is what everybody who does Me-Made May says.

Harbourfront. "Sunrise/sunset"By using a fancypants filter, I am trying to distract you from the fact that the only way I'm even close to following the prompt (see plans, changed; also rain, impending) is that I'm wearing my tangerine Sunny Scarf. It seemed appropriate. I even styled it the way they do in the model picture - except for the sweater, because someone forgot to tell May that it's, well, May and not March. I wound up doing 10 repeats instead of 9 and the fringe... well... it only covers one and a half ends because I wasn't going to start a new skein just to finish some fringe. I may rip it out and redo it at a later date. But probably not. The earrings fit both travelling and refashioned categories. They are from a set I bought in New York about six years ago. I lost one of them, so I grabbed a link and "stones" from the matching necklace - I even made my own French wire. Problem solved.

Eaton Centre 'Urbain Eatery' (aka food court). "Need"I promised I would count my key lariat only once, and this is it. Even though I wouldn't ordinarily be wearing it in a food court. Whatever. My sister-in-law gave me this necklace a few years ago, and I didn't think I would get much wear out of it as a necklace but that it would make a great lariat. To begin with, I just stuck the key ring on and tied a knot in the necklace. Naturally, the ring wore through the string and it broke. During a staff meeting. Beads everywhere. As a stop-gap I had tied the now parted and uncovered strings to a key swivel thingy I took off another lariat, but just in time for me-made-May I finished the thing properly with knot cups and beads on wire with wrapped loops and a jump ring and everything - although it still needs tweaking as things keep opening up and keys fall to the ground at somewhat inopportune moments. I was also a little worried that the wire would break at the bends, and it did... just today. Ugh. The jump rings are currently attached, really awkwardly, to the swivel thingy. Did I say tweaking? I'll have to get some tiger tail and do it up really properly.

The earrings are ones that I bought in Provence. I don't like the middle part very much, so I think I'll have to refashion them somehow.

Chinatown. "7 o'clock"May has realized that it's May again, so I get to break out my flirty skirts. I'm wearing my chunky fluorite/aquamarine chandeliers and a black vest that used to go down to the middle of my thighs. Not flattering -- made my already short legs look like stumps. I took it up to just hip-length, rounding the edges and everything. I had to sew up a buttonhole that met the new hem. It was quite the project. This is one of those 90s things that gets all its shaping from lace-ups at the back. I like the style, but the laces are kind of uncomfortable, so I might put some darts in the back and keep the laces as mere decoration.
I realize you can't actually see the details of the outfit here, but I like it as a Photo-a-day pick. Here is another view of the whole outfit. (I also wore the tangerine Sunny scarf on the way to work, but threw it in my bag after I got there.)

By the way, wearing this outfit to work last year elicited the following comment from one of my students: "You look so professional!" Which made me wonder what I usually look like. (Again, fairly certain it was a compliment...)

The wilds of Etobicoke. "Mailbox"This is a horrible photo, but I had to go to the dentist and beggars can't be choosers. I'm wearing the refashioned burgundy tee I wore on Sunday... also to the the wilds of Etobicoke. Huh. Different earrings, though: they are silver triangles I bought in Paris last summer.

CN Tower/SkyDome*. "Season"**The Maple Leafs' season is over but the Blue Jays are still going, or so I hear. I'm wearing Eva earrings (now with danglers that pass the shake test, although there was frequent paranoid checking throughout the day) and a refashioned blue vest/waistcoat. What was with those leg-choppingly-long tops in the 90s? I gave it the same treatment as the black vest, with the addition that I had to take in the armscyes so I could wear it as a top without flashing people from the side. I think I will also put darts in the back since it tends to sit funny because I am low-waisted. I realize you can't actually see the vest, but honestly I don't really like wearing this except as a sleeveless top. As a vest, I think it veers into frumpy territory.
Sadly, when I got home I discovered that Lucy is apparently unhappy with the sweater I am currently crocheting:

Needless to say, Lucy did not leave it for me in this carefully reconstructed format. I think the page is salvageable. Oddly enough, she didn't touch the yarn, which was right beside the magazine. And her claws, clearly overdue for clipping, have been taken care of. It's a good thing she's cute.

Not Sugar Beach. "Want"I made these sandals using my hated flip flops/thongs/jandals and the bottom cut from my refashioned blue tee and this tutorial. I am very pleased at how these turned out, and I have plans for other pairs. They are wickedly comfortable, but not super-great for walking great distances -- the knit fabric stretches quite a bit. Those capris could probably be called refashioned since they were a size or two too big when I bought them and I took in and lowered the waist to a nearly-indecent level. I have to narrow the legs as well. I'm also wearing my refashioned blue top and little beaver earrings bought in Victoria. Trust me.

Toronto Islands. "My favourite view"I decided to spend some time on the Islands marking a test and listening to Jane Austen. I'm wearing those comfy, comfy shoes again (seriously? I may never take them off) and the comfy check capris, because I am lazy, but this time with my black sorbetto - which is really a bit too short for these capris. You know that test where you raise your hands above your head to see if your top meets your bottom? Did not pass. I'm also gratefully wearing a cardigan because it got really cold when the sun went behind the clouds and the wind picked up. Also the millefiore earrings I got in Venice that I never know what to wear with. Turns out they go with these capris!
Tomorrow is also a holiday. Yay for celebrating ancient regimes!
