Today, the DC and I went to the Aberfoyle Antique Market near Guelph with a bunch of friends today. After the week's warmth, the temperature dropped down to oh-lord-but-it's-chilly temperatures - I think somebody could have done a brisk trade in wool gloves.
The idea with antiquing is to go with a plan: know what you intend to get. If you don't go with a plan, you find yourself wondering if you have room for that art deco cabinet...

and worse, you find yourself considering an old bugle...

or tin letters...

or even giant plastic letters...

a beautiful little sewing machine...

But not these.

We saw lots of bikes.

Fortunately we had no way, other than riding them, to get them home.
There was also lots of silver. I was considering getting more teaspoons, but decided to hold off. Jewellery, on the other hand... Last year, the DC brought me a lovely pair of silver and abalone earrings, but I didn't see anything like that this time. Instead, I found myself strangely attracted to these over-the-top fabulous earrings:

I did find some cute vintage buttons and a tonne of fabric.

And vintage gloves. One store had far too many vintage gloves that I wanted to scoop up; I managed to escape with only three pairs.

We had to wait a bit for the rest of the group to reconvene, which was dangerous, because it meant that the DC and I could mull over purchases we originally decided to pass up. We both wound up going after them. See? Free time is the devil. In my case, I went back, not for the earrings I showed you earlier, but another, even more horrifically fabulous pair:

One of the enamelled flowers had been bent in such a way that I was worried that bending it back would break it off, so I got these plus that hairpin plus that ring for $5. Yeah, baby. Some of you may say that it was $5 too much, but even though I may never wear them outside of my apartment (and those suckers are heavy), they fill me with a certain glee every time I see them. Plus I fixed the bent flower. So it was $5 very well spent.
All in all, I came away with quite the haul. I haggled for almost everything, so I think I got some pretty good deals.

Eventually it was time to go home. C and the DC checked out the DC's finds while we were loading the cars:
