This post contains very little Star Wars: MMM14 week 1

It's baaaaaack!

It turns out that despite years of avoiding Flickr, I've had an account since it became part of Yahoo back in 2009. I've been posting my daily shots in the MMM14 group, but I'll go into a little more detail here.

I have committed to wearing something I've made or refashioned every day, with something I've sewn or a major piece of crochet (i.e. sweaters) 5 days a week. I've also committed to finishing all my UFOs or things I have to fix, and I'd like to have at least one new make before the end of the month. I'm following Fat Mum Slim's photo prompts again and I'm going to try a "where in the city is Physicsgirl" guessing game. I'll put hints in the photo mouseovers, but the prompts will almost always be a clue. Not always; I'll have to do some mental gymnastics with a few of them, and they may be tricky hint-wise, especially if you don't know Toronto well. Feel free to put your guesses in the comments, and I'll post the answers in next week's roundup.

Once again for the first day of Me Made May I wanted to hit all three crafts: sewing, crocheting, and jewellery. It was "Blackout Day" at school, so I'm wearing my black and white gingham Koi is Coy Simplicity 2541, which I wore a great deal last fall until the weather got too cold. This time I discovered an unsewn bit, i.e. a gap, right near the right pocket. How did I miss that? Also it has become far too large in the waist, so more unpicking clearly awaits me. I'm also wearing my Sunny scarf in blue and my Eva earrings. Bit of an odd combo, perhaps -- the earrings don't really mix with a scarf.

The DC and I stopped for sustenance after Coffee Haus. Sorry about the lack of outfit detail here. I'm wearing my Granddad pants (McCall 5239, pre-blog but discussed in last year's MMM week 1 post) and the blue tee I "refashioned" aka hemmed (discussed in MMM13 week 2). It was also almost warm enough to be outside in just a tee, but the rain started up again and made that less pleasant.

That thing on my back is my new Kala Acacia concert ukulele. She sounds so sweet. I performed "Champs Elysées" and "Royals" and they were well-received (but then, Coffee Haus is always a very forgiving audience, plus just having teachers on stage is always a hit). My video didn't come out terribly well, so I'll just leave the Walk Off the Earth cover here instead.

I spent today mostly working at home; we made a special trip for this shot since the DC was going out anyway. I'm wearing my still-to-be-blogged Saturn sweater; I swear I will put the buttons on it soon. To keep it closed, I usually wear a steampunk pin the DC made for me out of an old watch part. I'm also wearing the refashioned hemmed tee from yesterday, because Saturday. Those jeans are practically refashioned, since I've tried darning them with so much thread and eventually gave up and just started patching them, it seems there is very little original material left. They fit so well, though, and now that I've bought the Jean-ius course on Craftsy (on sale, natch), I hope they will become the foundation for a new pair.

No SW content today, I'm afraid. It's still chilly enough to warrant a sweater, so I'm wearing my Sylvia sweater, which is still missing the button-hole side ribbon, and the jeans from yesterday, because Sunday.

Happy guessing!

Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 4/4; Refashioned: 2/4; Sewing: 2; Crochet: 3; Earrings: 1

    1. Thanks. It's a little hectic right now, what with trying to get exams set and so forth, but the pictures are forcing me to take breaks, which is kind of nice.
