In which PhysicsGirl nearly repeats OWOP : MMM15 week 2

me-made-may'14

So, it turns out that when I'm left to my non-planning devices, I basically grab the same thing out of the drawer. This nearly turned into Belcarra week. My fault for making 5 versions of the same top, I guess. This also marks the week where I technically failed the challenge.

May 4

today I saw
Cherry blossoms at Robarts Library. "Today I saw..."

Kind of cheating, since I took a picture here last year, but it wasn't actually a MMM picture and I couldn't resist. I'm wearing my still-to-be-blogged-from-last-year Wavy Tiramisu and my fluorite and aquamarine chandelier earrings. I really like this dress, but I wish I had automatically lowered the bust seam so that it goes under my bust. And I don't care what people say about pockets in knit skirts; I love these. So useful for holding binder clips and change when I don't have my purse with me.

red
Canada's Walk of Fame. "Red"

The prompt made this outfit an easy decision, since much to my surprise I have only made three red items. This is the #sewDollyClackett Down in the Electric Avenue Anna, along with the cream Swoon cardigan I made during last year's MMM, and my Timeless Teardrop earrings. You can't see them, but they're there all the same.

10 o'clock
The staff room at school. "10 o'clock"

I'm really showing you the wonderful spaces of Toronto, aren't I? Thanks a lot, prompt. I'm wearing my blue Belcarra and bruised candy apple earrings. I was going to wear my grey linen Thurlows, but discovered they were full of pins at the waist where I still need to move the hardware. Oops. Then I was going to throw on my cream Swoon cardigan, but the problem with the Belcarra, on me anyway, is that it's not great for layering; the neck gapes when worn under a jacket or cardigan. Plus it was going to be 22°C, so, you know, no sweater needed.

They promised me a warm day, but it was a little too chilly to be wearing this Oona eyelet Belcarra; I had to throw on the shawl I leave at school for just such emergencies. I'm also wearing my Koi is coy skirt (now with magically-fitting waist) and my purple Eva earrings.

4 things
The corner of Queen's Park Circle and College. "4 things"

The Flickr Friday prompt was "Sewing space," and I meant to take my photo in the same place as this picture, but I was at school for Coffee House (my renditions of Hang On Little Tomato and Shake It Off went, sadly, unrecorded so you will just have to imagine it) and had to get cat food on the way home, so I didn't have time to go there. The four things I am wearing are my new aquamarine Eva earrings, which I will blog about Someday Soon, my vertically-striped Belcarra, my grey linen Thurlows (now fixed), and refashioned flip-flops. The flip-flops with t-shirt fabric are super comfortable, but you have to take care how you wrap them; I got it wrong and nearly walked out of them on my way to class.

May 9

Peaceful
Cherry blossoms in High Park. "Peaceful"

Yet another Belcarra. Look, I honestly didn't plan this. I wore the "floral" Belcarra because it goes with the cherry blossom earrings, which I always wear when we crawl out of bed insanely early to see the sakura blossoms in High Park. Despite the early hour, it wasn't particularly peaceful, since about a hundred or so others had the same idea and the place was busy. Afterward, we went for a ride along the waterfront while we waited for Mitzi's Cafe to open; that was fairly peaceful but we got caught in a sudden downpour. So brunch was a little damp.

It got hot a lot later in the day, so I threw on my grey linen Thurlow shorts (which are still missing a button and belt loops) to go grocery shopping. And then didn't.

May 10

"Playground"

Why don't you see a photo? Because I was in bed all day, sick. Wearing nothing that I made. Sorry.

UFOs F'd

Yes! I finally dealt with a few UFOs. I needed to take in the waist of the Koy is coy skirt (why I thought that it fitted me when I first made it, I don't know, because it's been an issue for years). And the grey Thurlow trousers needed the hardware moved. I thought I had done it back in March, but nope. Done now.

Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 6/7; Refashioned: 1/7; Sewing: 10; Crochet: 0; Earrings: 6; UFOs f'd: 2/18
Monthly total: Me-mades: 9/10; Refashioned: 2/10 Sewing: 16; Crochet: 0; Earrings/Jewellery: 8; UFOs f'd: 2/18
