This week is very short: MMM15 week 1

me-made-may'14

The weather for this first very abbreviated week has been absolutely beautiful. Which is not what I'm used to in MMM -- I even packed away the granddad pants and crocheted cardigans, which have been a staple for me. I've committed to wearing at least two me-made or refashioned items every day and finishing all my UFOs. I'll be posting photos daily in the Flickr group and going into more detail here. As usual, I'm following Fat Mum Slim's photo prompts, but since this year she's only giving the prompts weekly, I haven't been able to plan out all my locations in advance. I don't want to repeat locations, so this will be interesting.

Oh, and hey? There's a drinking game. Right on.*

May 1

want
Sugar Beach. "Want"**

Yes, I would like to be sitting on the beach doing nothing (or reading), but instead I have several stacks of labs to mark and a few exams to finish setting. A former student stopped by to visit today, and we talked about the joy of co-op: coming home from work and being... done for the day. What a feeling that would be.***

I'm wearing my newly-blogged breton Bronte, Lekala spiral gore jeans skirt, and my burgundy chandelier earrings, discussed in week 5 of MMM13 (although I should say that I lost one of them last year; when I went to replace the hoops the store only had smaller ones so I had to redo both of them. I prefer them with the smaller hoops and would be happy to go even smaller if I can find some.)

When I was making the Bronte, I waffled about leaving the sleeves long or taking them to 3/4 length. Having worn it for a month, I'm happy to say the sleeves are fine as-is. The lazy in me rejoices.

My bedroom. "Faceless self-portrait"

I was planning on going somewhere and doing something arty photo-wise, but the drinking game made this a no-brainer. Perversely, I want to do every thing on that list now. However, I am also trying to avoid repeating photos, so this is the last mirror shot from me. Probably.

I'm wearing my long blue Swoon cardigan, which was really too warm to wear in the middle of the day but nice and cozy in the morning and evening, and my Math Cheat tank, which is still too high and needs to be fixed where the elastic didn't quite get attached.

May 3

A cup of...
Marking on my deck. "A cup of..."

So, yeah. Another picture at my lovely apartment. I promise I will take some slightly more interesting photos from now on. I'm wearing my black sesame Sorbetto, and for the last time. You can't see it very well, but that's probably for the best because it looks terrible. It was supposed to be a wearable muslin and nice, cool, cotton tank for hot days, but the bust darts are way too high and the armscyes are digging into my pits. It's uncomfortable to wear, and I don't know why I've held onto it for so long aside from sheer obstinacy. I was wearing my long blue cardigan again in the morning, but took it off in the middle of the day. Naturally as soon as I took this picture, the wind picked up and I had to put the sweater on again. I am also wearing my refashioned tea earrings, although why I put earrings on to mark on the deck is beyond me.

UFOs F'd

So, I thought I would keep track of the UFOs I finished here to keep me on track. I was planning on redoing some skirts, but it just didn't happen. It has to happen soon, because I'd like to actually wear them this month.

Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 3/3; Refashioned: 1/3; Sewing: 6; Crochet: 0; Earrings: 1; UFOs: 0/18

*Strawpedo? Bottoms up, baby!

**I was looking through the MMM13 photos yesterday, and there was a day with the prompt "want" on which I intended to go to Sugar Beach but was lazy and stayed at home. It's come to this: I'm practically copying myself.

***6 more weeks, and this will be me. But for now, back to those labs and exams...

  1. I was actually near Sugar Beach on May 1. I went to the Loblaws at lunch time. I wanted to sunburn...ahem...sunbath there all day instead of heading back to work. :/

    1. I may spend some time there in the fall, when everyone goes back to work or school but it's still warm enough to enjoy.
