It's Spring in Ontario: one day slightly chilly, next day beautifully warm, then we plunge down to near-freezing with threats of snow and actual hail. Good times. Clothes were worn. It's halfway through Me Made May!

Canadian Red Cross. "A sign"
Over 90 000 people have been displaced by the Alberta wildfire. Please donate.
I'm wearing my Rosemary and Wine sweater, because it was kind of cold enough to warrant a sweater, and my denim tulip Simplicity 2451 with bare legs, because dagnabit it's May already. You'll noticed I've added a leather lace to do up the stupidly big keyhole opening on that sweater. It's so much more wearable now. This isn't a great pairing because the lack of waist definition plus poofy hips is a little dumpy.
I didn't get to see the transit of Mercury today, despite trying, because Mercury, as it turns out, is incredibly tiny and I just couldn't see it in the half-inch-wide image of the Sun I had shining on the screen on my deck. Maybe in 2019.

Hanlan's Point and Billy Bishop Airport at the Toronto Islands. "Travel"
So... I really regretted not wearing my gloves to the Islands because holy cow I froze my hands off waiting for planes to take off so I could find out that the remote on my camera works when it feels like it. I really wanted a shot of a larger plane taking off in front of the CN Tower, and finally got it, but wound up cutting off my head. In the shot, that is. Meanwhile my hands were slowly freezing to the remote. Just saying it's a lot colder on the Islands than downtown.
Anyway I'm wearing my Jalie jeans and my Cake Bonny tee, which you can't see because I had to layer on the Jenna cardigan. I'm also wearing my "cherry blossom" earrings — which aren't very cherry-blossomish and are as close as I'll get to cherry blossoms this cool spring.

Schlumping at home, reading. "Tiny"
Yeah, didn't bother getting out of my plaid Tofinos and blue Swoon cardigan because I've been busy rereading all my Helen MacInness espionage novels and drinking tea. It's a hard life, but somebody's gotta do it.

Multi-modal transport at Dufferin Station on the way to getting my teeth scraped. "Text"
It was a seriously beautiful day today. I subwayed/biked to a dentist appointment which is close to my old house, so naturally I biked past that to see what changes had been made. Turns out, not a lot. They've taken out the fireplaces, which is a bit of a shame but not unexpected because they were in really inconvenient locations, and replaced the mullioned front window, also expected but a bit of a shame. Happily, they have kept up Aged P's tradition of putting fake animals out: there is a wicker deer in front of the garage.
Thanks to whoever slipped the Eglinton separated bike path past the Etobicoke counsellors who no doubt would have cancelled it if they were paying attention because it's possible to cycle from Aged P's former abode to her current apartment almost entirely avoiding car traffic. I wish this had been around when I was in high school. Anyway, because I was going to be helping Aged P unpack the van and move boxes around I wore my Jalie jeans. Good for grunt work, not so good for biking because it was really too warm for them. I also wore my unblogged Zoe Edwards red fleece tank.

Home, and LOT for The Mousetrap. "Mirror; Flickr Friday theme: Stripes"
I spent most of the day lounging in different pyjamas: my summer peacock Tofino/Two-tone combo and my long blue Swoon cardigan. Not that you can tell these are peacocks in this picture, but stick around; I'm sure they'll come out again. I eventually got dressed up to go see The Mousetrap at LOT. I first saw the play a long time ago, so I knew who the killer was, but I forgot almost every other detail and I like rereading mysteries to catch the clues I missed the first time. This production dragged a little in places and there was some unintentional misdirection due one of the cast appearing to be far too young for the character, but otherwise it was good fun. Oh, and warning (because they didn't warn us), one character smoked. A lot. I was feeling a wee bit nauseated before the intermission finally rolled around.
In honour of the Flickr Friday theme, I'm wearing my wavy striped Tiramisu, my chunky fluorite chandeliers (which are sadly missing quite a few danglers), and my not-yet-blogged-and-barely-worn black mohair Swoon cardigan. I brought the cardigan because I thought I might need it for the ride home; turns out they cooled down the theatre to the point where I needed to wear the sweater immediately.

A Little Too Cosy at Studio 42, CBC. "Eye"
We saw Against the Grain's Figaro's Wedding during my first MMM and we loved it, so when we saw they were doing an adaptation of Così fan tutte as a reality TV show, we were in like Flynn. It's really really good and hilarious (although misogynistic and I'm disappointed nobody called out Elmo on his hyposcrisy) and you should see it. It's on until May 21.
As I did three years ago, I wore my skirt refashioned from hand-sewn university formal dress. I finally finished my sheer forest green Mathilde blouse, but I have to wait to blog it because looking at this picture I can see that the picot neckline is too high — it's causing that weird fold at the yoke. So, this has jumped right into UFO territory. I'll try to fix it Sunday night so I can blog it when the temperature goes back up above 10°C. I'm not fond of this pairing; the DC liked it because it looks very 1910, which he meant as a compliment but I happen to think is one of the most unflattering silhouettes in history. Full above full is not good look for me. I'm also carrying my black Swoon cardigan, which again was needed inside the studio, and my goldish hematite block earrings.
I'm also wearing the awesome Fluevogs I bought during my first MMM. They are so fabulous. And because of the unbelieveable cold, merino tights. They are awesome in a different way. The ride home was so-cold and the wind was ridiculous; I needed thicker gloves, a scarf, and ear-warmers, and my skirt tried to pull off a Marilyn at the stoplights.

All bundled up to avoid the hail outside. "Lunch"
Requisite picture of me eating/drinking. It was cold and raining and hailing outside, so I decided not to go out to see Ben Goldacre after all. Despite the cold, I'm glad to get the chance to wear my Dana sweater again #sorrynotsorry. To round out the week, I'm also rewearing my denim Simpicity 2451 (on top of more merino tights — they can turn any skirt winter-appropriate). This pairing works better than Monday's.
New Items
The forest green Mathilde is new but I've been working on it for three weeks and that's not really in the spirit of the challenge. And now it's technically a UFO until I fix the neckline. Dodgy.UFOs F'd
Last week, I said that I would finish three UFOs, but I only got part way through one before I was distracted by something shiny (namely our upcoming trip to New York). So I will get them done tonight, plus the green Mathilde and another two which shouldn't take too long. I did finish another four blog posts, so yay me.Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 7/7; Refashioned: 0/7; Sewing: 13; Crochet: 2; Jewellery/Other: 3; UFOs f'd: 3/14

Busy Bee you are :) Mouse Trap is a favorite of mine and I too have forgotten who the killer is. Love the dress you wore to the play that night :)

Hah! Well, I certainly won't tell you who it is. And thank you. I need to make more Tiramisus; it's a great pattern.
