Nine days a week: MMMay16 week 4

MMM16 week 4 composite

me-made-may'16

This week is a little long, yes? It feels like it kind of went to hell for me because in the middle of getting ready to leave for New York, I had to deal with an issue that wound up not being an issue but still wound up taking too much time because somebody didn't bother to tell me they weren't coming by after all thereby wasting said time and not letting me get on with all the stuff I was supposed to be getting on with. Plus I got a bit sick on the weekend. No UFOs finished, no new makes.

May 23

made by me
Standing beside the cabinet doors I made pre-blog. "Made by me"

Well, isn't that a handy prompt? I'm wearing nothing I haven't made or refashioned: my tan check Thurlow shorts, the Spring Steppes/Fall Fields cardigan I finally finished last year and will probably blog this year, a pair of Mary knickers, and the refashioned Math Cheat tank and t-shirt flip-flops. Not an outfit to repeat, I think.

in my bag
Sweet and Salty popcorn. "In my bag"

Yeah, so this prompt? Less handy. Anyway, I took this picture when I was still planning to go to R & C's backyard cinema. I'm wearing my grey linen Thurlow shorts and my cheater-refashioned blue t-shirt. However, I wound up not going because of the Issue That Wasn't An Issue but involved me staying up until 3 am or so dealing with potential fall-out. I won't go into specifics on the blog (although I've probably bored you with the details if you've talked to me in person); suffice to say it spilled over into the next day and lack of sleep and anxiety were not a happy combination. And despite it turning out to be Not An Issue after all, which was seriously frustrating, I had a stress hangover for days.

At least I had popcorn.

blurry
Around the corner from A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. "Blurry"

I took a nap once it seemed the Issue would be Not An Issue because sleeping is my coping mechanism and also so I wouldn't fall asleep during A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Which was excellent — Gentleman's Guide, I mean, although the nap was pretty good too. I had to drag the DC to it because he's not keen on musicals and he. loved. it. It's so good. It's based on the same book as Kind Hearts and Coronets, and as in the Alec Guinness movie the family members are all played by the same guy. What fun for an actor to play so many roles at once.

See this video (and not the "in four minutes" one, because we didn't have high expectations going in after that).

Anyway. I'm wearing my white/blue eyelet dress (now bike-friendly!), my lacy blue Swoon cardi, that Flamingo Toes wristlet that usually only gets seen for Dîner en Blanc (and which really needs cleaning), and my Timeless Teardrops earrings.

May 26

something
Canadian Tire. "Something"

The DC and I took some time to head off to Canadian Tire for much-needed stuff (and yes, we brought those huge containers home on our bikes) and run other going-away errands. I'm wearing my refashioned M*A*T*H tank, although the FOE has stretched out completely and obviously needs to be replaced, and refashioned wooden earrings.

May 27

moody
Deck + Dovercourt House for FMW. "Moody"

Today's a two-fer; you get me wearing my Cake Bonny tee, my quasi-refashioned plaid capris, and my t-shirt flip-flops during the day, then at night I wore the Bonny again with my Smooth Sailing sailor trousers and anchor earrings for the Friday night dance of Frankie Manning Weekend. What's that, you say? That top in the second picture is not the same top as in the first? Right. I forgot to take a picture before I had to change tops due to extreme sweatiness. This Bonny is too thick for dancing. I'd like to make a few more for dancing in thinner knits, this time with the collar.

May 28

view from bed
Obvious. "View from bed"

All I wore today were these loud yellow Tofino pjs. I was planning on finally wearing my Victory dress to the Saturday dance of FMW but I wasn't feeling very well and wound up not going.

May 29

Ill but doing laundry. Still wearing yesterday's pjs. Picture it in your mind.

"Hair"

I forgot to take a picture because I was busy running around like a person with lots of stuff to do before leaving the country for five days. It was very warm out, so I wore my silk Marfy top, although I keep forgetting that I still have to hem the back slit, and my trusty blue denim Lekala spiral gore skirt. Which pulled a total Marilyn on me in the street. Fortunately I only flashed a few women, but that was... unexpected.

May 31

what I saw today
Billy Bishop Airport. "What I saw today"

And we're off to NYC! We're calling this Honeymoon, Part 1 since we never got around to actually going on a honeymoon last fall. I love Billy Bishop airport: we went from our apartment to the gate in about 30 minutes. And there's free coffee and snacks in the waiting area. And no, I don't want jets flying out of that airport. Anyway, I'm wearing my breton Renfrew and a pair of Mary knickers.

UFOs F'd

Yeah, no.

Geeky stats:
Me-mades: 7/7; Refashioned: 3/7; Sewing: 17; Crochet: 1; Jewellery/Other: 4; UFOs f'd: 0/8
Monthly total: Me-mades: 31/31; Refashioned: 5/31; Sewing: 41; Crochet: 6; Jewellery/Other: 12; UFOs f'd: 6.5/16

So there you go. Challenge mostly completed, except for that UFO and new items part, and repeating some items more than once per week. I'll do some kind of a wrap-up when I get back from New York.
